Hey friends, Jon Gibson here. I know some of you are getting this blog when you don’t wish too and you probably already canceled your membership at jongibson.com and I don't blame you, but hear me out so that you may know what’s happening with me if you care to know. As you know, I’ve found it difficult in this last few months to put any real time into my website. However, I have managed to catch up, posting new music, well, at least music you might not of heard before as well as more charts and lyrics. So, I thought this would be a good time to explain what God is been doing with me.
As some of you already know in October of last year God called me out to Twin Falls Idaho to help Effect Radio. Effect Radio is the largest independent Christian music network with over 60 stations nationwide. When I first took over as Station Manager and Program Director, it was was a real challange as I had to clean up some accumulated programming with not much of a road map as to what other programmers had done so all within complex, automated, broadcasting software that took me six months just to learn!
Once we had a clear vision of the desired format, I sought the Lord as to the best strategy of how I could be a blessing to the network and God kept telling me the same thing; “Organize, organize, organize. So, I soon went to work going through all 8000 songs one by one to not only determine what was radio friendly but to database all the song info as well. It took me four months to do it and I'm just putting the finishing touches on the new system.
Because of this I've had very little energy to put into my own career and manage my website with the efficiency that I would have like to. To complicate things even further, I also had a serious sinus infection over the last two moths getting used to the climate out here that made it impossible for me to record vocals. Subsequently, I’ve laid plenty of tracks but none with vocals.
So, I understand that some of you were probably wondering was going on with me but I just want you to rest a sure that not only is my voice in working order but I'm right where God wants me to be. One of the blessings of going to 8000 songs is coming across pure gems that have moved me to my soul and enabled me to look beyond my own music and career and begin to care about the music and careers of other dedicated artists within the body of Christ. It enabled me to care about what God is doing in the big picture rather than just being concerned about my own little corner.
In this adventure, I've come across 1500 really good songs, some of them real Christian masterpieces that I've so been so blessed to listen to at will. Now that the difficult part of organizing Effect Radio is close to being done, I look forward to a very fruitful year not only for Effect radio but also for my own music to flourish because of the knowledge, wisdom and humility that I've gained by taking on such an awesome challenge from God.
So, I ask you all to hang in there with me if you can. If you already canceled your membership, I understand but you can always re-join. Because of all the work I’ve put in this past year, I will be able to take much better care of the membership and post much more stuff and more frequently.
For years I've been praying for a cause that I can really do a ministry work and God and He provided an open door through Effect Radio, reaching over 20 million a day. But God has also revealed a cause to get behind in my own ministry, reaching out to incarcerated men and women. Last year I had the privilege of performing in prisons in Arizona and Colorado some of them maximum-security prison's were no entertainers had ever been before.
Subsequently, these performances have really upped my security clearance in the prison system as my name is now on a special list. Through this, I’ve discovered a neglected area within prison ministry and that is equipping worship leaders who are incarcerated who are trying to lead other inmates to salvation in Christ through song.
Currently, worship leaders receive very little help from the outside so I started prisonministry.com to begin to connect the needs of these prison worship teams with the Body of Christ outside prison walls, believers and worship leaders alike with incarcerated ministers and worship leaders who are trying to reach fellow inmates for Jesus. Who better to reach incarcerated men and women for Christ then those in prison.
Eventually I would like to see the support membership for jongibson.com to shift over to prisonministry.com altogether when we get the website up and running so that we can focus on raising money to make this a success. As far as my music and career, I’m not worried about it, God will open the door for me soon enough to make music again and get it out to the world when the time is right.
I thank you all for your continued support and may God bless you for it. In the meantime, I encourage my friends and supporters to contact me at Effect Radio by calling the phone number and asking for me by name. I’ll be glad to talk with you and see what God has in store for the future. Perhaps you just want to talk just to say “Hey Man, what up?” Just call me during business hours between 10.00 AM and 6:00 PM Central Mountain Time (Twin Falls, ID) at Effect Radio 208.734.6633 or 1-800-357-4226 (Toll free),
I love you all, God bless.
